Ms. Chard's 6th grade ELA and 7th grade Science Home
Annoucements:
Classroom Information:
ELA 1:
- IR entries (from the previous week) are due on Mondays!
- We continue to work on adventure elements, comprehension strategies, and narrative story elements while reading The Cay.
ELA 2:
- We are working through the writing process in Writers' Workshop, focusing on adventure stories. Students are setting goals for themselves each day, and reflecting on how well they worked. You will notice a Daily Goal grade given each week, based on their goals and reflections, as well as work ethic.
- We continue to have Word Study (aka a spelling list) each week. Students have a individualized list of 5 words to focus on each week. On Fridays, they will take a spelling test over those 5 words. Please encourage your child to practice at home!
- As we look at different parts of speech, we are taking quizzes each Fridays on the part of speech that we studied that week.
Science:
- Science Extra Credit: Throughout our electricity unit, students are invited to bring in current event articles that is related to electricity. These may be newspaper, magazine, or internet articles. To receive extra credit, the student must give a 2-3 sentence summary, emphasizing the main points of the article.
